Bad luck!!!

In the Amazon top selling list, the speaker I really wanted to have is now selling for almost one third of the original price. However for my bad luck Amazon doesn't allow me to ship it to Sri Lanka.

New Job

I started last Monday at my new job. It feels good to sit in front of a 19” monitor and a machine with 2GB RAM. I was wondering for a movement why anyone would need such a powerful beast and then once I went through the Product Deployment Guide I realized you really need a beast of that caliber to set up the development environment with Oracle + Weblogic + IDE + Tomcat + Required Services + etc + etc.

I got my company T-Shirt on the second day and knowing how much of a T-Shirt (Technology) freak I am, hmmm, let me say I was just happy :-).

Work wise, I think the most challenging area is going to be the building domain knowledge and the product knowledge and getting myself familiarize with the huge code base. I guess once I start working on the code things should settle.

It normally takes quite sometime to settle down in a new place for me, to become my true self and to have fun. However, I think I should be able to sink in fast here, since people seems friendly and who doesn't love some fun right :-)

Last Day at Eurocenter

This post should have come sometime back. Last Friday was my last day at Euro Center. It was sad that I had to leave EC and my team and move on, but I must say it was the best farewell I have had in my 5 years of IT career. Thank you for everything guys, I enjoyed every moment working with you. A big thank for all of you, who replied my last mail at EC. Please keep in touch, and I am really going to miss you all.

Thank you for the gifts guys

Benford's Law

[extract]Dr. Theodore P. Hill asks his mathematics students at the Georgia Institute of Technology to go home and either flip a coin 200 times and record the results, or merely pretend to flip a coin and fake 200 results. The following day he runs his eye over the homework data, and to the students' amazement, he easily fingers nearly all those who faked their tosses.[/extract]

If you want to understand how he does it go ahead and read Benford's Law.
